The Lost Flowers and Urban Flora
Free talk at Newcastle City Library
Wednesday 21st October 10.30am-12noon in the Bewick Hall (level 2)
A lovely opportunity to hear about a fascinating collection of 19th century watercolours of wildflowers from Northumberland and Durham, belonging to the City Library, which have recently been the focus of a creative project that Sarah Lawrance has been leading with Equal Arts. The event will include an opportunity to see the watercolours and hear from Archivist Kris McKie about how and when they were created. Also speaking will be James Common, senior naturalist at Northumbria Natural History Society, who has recently produced a book entitled Urban Flora. A great opportunity to compare how the wildflowers of our region have changed over the last 2 centuries!
Doors open at 10.30am with an opportunity to look at the watercolours before the talk starts at 11am. Light refreshments will be available afterwards.
FREE but booking advised, either via Newcastle Libraries Eventbrite page or let Sarah know and she will reserve a place for you.
