Rogation Walk

Rogationtide is the season for an ancient custom which is to walk the parish boundary and to pray for all those who live and work here.  In rural parishes this is the traditional Sunday to pray for the crops, but in our urban context it is an opportunity to pray for everything that happens in our community.

We meet at the church hall at 2pm and then walk along Melville Grove, via Paddy Freemans into Jesmond Dene, and then walk along the Ouseburn to South Gosforth, then along Benton Park Road as far as Four Lane Ends and then down Benton Road as far as the CIty boundary, and then through the Fairways estate to Coach Road and then down as far as Etherstone Avenue, then alonsgide the cemetery and onto Craster Terrace, then along Southlands and back to Paddy Freemans via Jesmond Park West.

It takes about two hours and you're welcome to walk part of the way and peel off at any point!  Walking boots are recommended but not necessary, but please dress for the weather and bring some water to drink.  Sdaly the kiosk at Paddy Freeman's is no longer available for an end-of-walk ice cream!
