The average free-standing freezer costs £74 to run each year but it can cost more if we do not look after it. First, clean the condenser coils occasionally. This means pulling it out and using your vacuum`s brush attachment or use a toothbrush and vacuum up the dust afterwards.

Also, check the door seals have not gone hard and split - new seals can be purchased.

Always cool food before putting in the freezer (or fridge) or your freezer has to work extra hard.

Also shut the freezer (or fridge) door!!! I am always telling my family to do this.
