Mothers’ Union 150 years anniversary

From mid-July to mid-August there will be a display in St. Nicholas Cathedral telling the story, history and work of MU. On July 25th at 12pm noon a diocesan service will be held at the cathedral to celebrate this amazing milestone. This will be part of a day of activities at the cathedral to mark this anniversary, more details here.

Please come along, find out more about MU and offer your prayers and support for members and this service we provide.

On Sunday 9th August we will remember in our worship Mary Sumner, the founder of the Mother's Union.

Mothers’ Union is a worldwide charity of more than 4 million women and men working in 84 countries. As a global movement of women and men, MU support their local churches with the prayers and service of its branch members, their local communities through social outreach and projects and is an international campaigning organisation. It is particularly concerned with the plight of women in the world. Projects include literacy and development, parenting, micro-finance and campaigning against gender-based violence and the trafficking of women. Its vision is a world where God’s love is shown through loving, respectful and flourishing relationships. Its aim and purpose is to demonstrate Christian faith in action by the transformation of communities worldwide, through the nurture of the family in its many forms.
