Lent 2019

At St Francis we are planning three weekly activities to help us on our Lenten pilgrimage so folk can pick and choose:

1. Mondays in Lent 7.30pm - 9pm 'Passion Worship Group'

On Mondays a group will meet through Lent to discuss the events of Holy Week - Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, his death on Good Friday, the Silence of Holy Saturday and the joy of Easter Day - and how we will commemorate them in Holy Week. A great opportunity to reflect on the core events of our faith prepare ourselves to celebrate Easter.

2. Thursdays 10.30am - 12pm Archbishop's Book Group

Archbishop Justin's Lent Book this year is 'Reconciliation' by Muthuraj Swamy. There are 40 chapters, one a day in Lent. Reconciliation is a fantastic topic to be thinking on at the moment - how we can help to bring people together. A group will be meeting on Thursday mornings in Lent. You can purchase the book from Amazon here, or if you are giving up Amazon for Lent alternatives are available here and here.

3. Sundays 6pm - Evening Worship

There will be an Act of Worship each Sunday evening at St Francis in Lent - taking different forms each week including a prayer group,  Taizé and Stations of the Cross.

There is also a Soup Lunch every Tuesday lunchtime (12.30-1.30pm) to raise money for Christian Aid.

Hopefully there is something for everyone! Have a think what you might be able to come to and if there is anything you might like to give up or take up!
